Whereas the plotline for Sunset Boulevard weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition, the floral script for this delightful narrow, conical, medium-sized, deciduous tree reads: large, single white flowers tinged with pink at the edges. The emerging coppery foliage turns to green and then as the sun sets, the boulevard is littered with golden yellow leaves in fall. Garden care: Plant ‘Sunset Boulevard’ as soon as conditions allow (avoiding frozen and waterlogged soil). Choose a sheltered spot to protect emerging blossom. Incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Lightly prune in summer to retain the shape.
