A slow-growing, dwarf evergreen conifer with white buds. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acid soil Rate of growth: slow-growing Hardiness: fully hardy An excellent choice for coastal or city gardens, this dwarf evergreen conifer is salt and pollution-tolerant and forms a fluffy upright-shaped habit with dark green needles up to 12cm (5”) long. With all-year-round appeal, ‘Helga’ has white buds that provide an attractive contrast in late spring and early summer, and is ideal as a slow-growing specimen for a rockery, gravel garden, or pot. Garden care: Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
