Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acid soil Rate of growth: slow-growing Hardiness: fully hardy Gradually forming a low, cushion-like dome of rich green foliage, this compact conifer is deservedly popular. It’s ideal for adding year-round colour and structure to rockeries or gravel gardens, and it can also be used in pots or woven through border edges. Garden care: Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
