A fast-growing, early summer flowering bulb. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Flowering period: May to July Hardiness: half hardy (will require winter protection) This easy to grow perennial will quickly spread to form a generous colony, which in late spring and early summer is topped with star-shaped white flowers. A great addition to the front of a border, the bulbs can also be naturalised in turf or grown in pots on the patio. Garden care: After flowering, plant the potted bulbs 10cm (4in) deep in naturalistic groups in autumn. During summer when the bulbs are dormant lift and divide groups that are becoming congested. Deadhead after flowering inhibit unwanted seedlings.
