A bushy perennial fuchsia with pendent, red and white bell-shaped flowers. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained Rate of growth: average to fast Flowering period: May to the first frosts Hardiness: frost tender (will need winter protection) Deep green leaves form the ideal backdrop for the bicoloured, bell-shaped flowers, which often appear non-stop from early summer to mid-autumn. ‘Madame Cornelissen’ is a bushy fuchsia, so she’s ideal for the patio or the border – and can even be used to create a low, informal hedge or screen. Garden care: To encourage growth, pinch out the growing tips of young plants after the sixth or seventh pair of leaves. During the growing season water regularly, and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser each month. Protect plants from frost, and overwinter potted plants in a conservatory or greenhouse.
