A single-flowering, red and purple, bedding fuchsia. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moderately fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average to fast-growing Flowering period: May to the first frosts Hardiness: frost tender (will need winter protection) With it’s almost ‘blue’, pendent purple and cerise flowers, ‘Bella Sacha’ is a unique fuchsia that makes an eye-catching, compact, cascade of colour for containers and baskets. Vivid, contrasting sepals and petals make this a stunning summer season plant for sun or a partially shady site protected from cold, drying winds. Garden care: To encourage growth, pinch out the growing tips of young plants after the sixth or seventh pair of leaves. During the growing season water regularly, and apply a balanced liquid fertiliser each month. Protect plants from frost with horticultural fleece and a thick organic mulch to protect the roots. Once established, in early to mid-spring cut back the previous year’s flowering stems to within one or two buds of the older woody framework.
