This will make a superb centrepiece (or stand-alone specimen) for a pot on the patio, or a hard-working addition to the summer bedding scheme in the border. Garden care: To encourage growth, pinch out the growing tips of young plants after the sixth or seventh pair of leaves. During the growing season water regularly, applying a balanced liquid fertiliser each month. When the temperatures start to dip, move it to a sheltered spot, or protect it from the worst of the winter weather.
