Easy to grow . Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moderately fertile, well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil Rate of growth: average to fast Flowering period: March to June (and occasionally in winter) Hardiness: fully hardy but short-lived These jumbo seedlings may produce the odd flower in winter, but they really start to dazzle in spring. Tough and easy to grow, ‘Sugar Rush’ is an F1 hybrid, so it provides a long-lasting and colourful display. They look wonderful when paired with spring flowering bulbs, so try mixing them with blue or purple shades for contrast, or team them with orange and red for a fiery display. Grown individually in cell trays, each plant measures about 7 – 10cm tall (from the base of the root to the top of the plant). Garden care: Plant these garden-ready jumbo seedlings straight out into well-prepared borders – or into pots filled with a good quality potting mix. Apply a generous layer of mulch and provide overnight cloche or fleece protection where frosts are very severe or prolonged. Once they start to flower, regular deadheading will help extend the display.
