Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acid soil Rate of growth: slow-growing Hardiness: fully hardy A compact and dwarf cypress, ‘Elegans Nana’ is a decorative evergreen conifer with a rounded, ‘cloud-like’ growth habit and dense, finely textured foliage. The leaves turn bronze in winter before returning to green in the spring and summer. Juvenile leaves are soft, feathery and blue-green, becoming stiffer and pricklier with age. Garden care: Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
