Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained, neutral soil Rate of growth: fast-growing Flowering period: May to June Hardiness: fully hardy Appearing with the bronze-flushed foliage in late spring or early summer, the soft pink flowers have a light, vanilla-like perfume, which is at it’s strongest when the plant is grown in a sunny, sheltered spot. A fast-grower, it is ideal for quickly covering a sturdy but unsightly wall or outbuilding, or creating a sense of privacy in an enclosed space. Garden care: No routine pruning is necessary. If the spread of the needs to be restricted prune immediately after flowering, cutting back overlong shoots to healthy buds. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
