Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: fertile, well-drained, neutral soil Rate of growth: average to fast growing Flowering period: June to September Hardiness: fully hardy In early summer, this compact climber is smothered in a profusion of yellow-eyed purple-red flowers, which as the name suggests, put on a dazzling display. Then, for the remainder of the summer (and into the autumn), the flowers continue to appear in lesser numbers, but still putting on an eye-catching display. A compact grower, it looks great in a large pot topped with an obelisk. Garden care: Remove dead and damaged stems before growth begins in early spring, cutting all remaining stems back to where strong buds are visible. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
