Golden foliage that does not scorch in the sun. Position: full sun Soil: prefers moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acid soil, but will tolerate most (including chalk) Rate of growth: slow-growing Hardiness: fully hardy Thread-like foliage in flattened sprays, slowly forms a soft dome, which offers year-round appeal. Initially bright golden yellow, the foliage takes on a greener tone as it matures, but unlike many of the golden-leaved conifers, this one rarely gets scorched in the sun. Garden care: Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
