Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acid soil Rate of growth: slow-growing Hardiness: fully hardy Long, slender shoots create a distinctive (and fun) moptop-like effect, which in time will slowly spread to form a flat-topped green mound. It makes a handsome, low-growing specimen for the front of the border, and could also be planted en-masse to form dense year-round ground cover. Garden care: Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter. Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn.
