Position: full sun or light, dappled shade Soil: fertile, moist, well-drained soil with a neutral to acidic pH Rate of growth: slow Flowering period: June to July Hardiness: frost hardy (may need protection in winter) In summer, this twining evergreen climber bears delicately tinted, pale yellow flowers, which have rich and heavy perfume. Billardiera longiflora is well suited to growing in a large pot in a conservatory, but it can also be used to cover a sheltered south, or east facing wall. It’s vivid violet berries, which appear in autumn, are also eye-catching, and they’ll add another season of interest. Garden care: Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser monthly during the growing season and trim (if necessary) after flowering. Protect from frost and overly wet conditions – particularly in winter.
